Agricultural transformation is crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as well as the African Agenda 2063. To realise “the Africa we want”, appropriate policies that aim to nurture public and private partnerships are required. Empirical evidence and improved monitoring and evaluation must inform policy design and implementation. This Conference will present the outcomes of research conducted through generous funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, presented by the enthusiastic and bright staff, PhDs, Post Docs and Visiting scholars sponsored through this grant and reflect on the capacity built through these experiences. Focussed sessions will include dialogue related to agricultural value chains, agricultural transformation and partnerships, and trade and mechanisation.
